MY FAVORITE BOOKS, WELLNESS DVD’S AND CD’S

I was reflecting the other day on books and DVD’s/CD’s that either helped me through a difficult time in my life or motivated and inspired me in some way that was transformational.

The first book that came to my mind was “A RETURN TO LOVE” by Marianne Williamson.  I read it in my early 30’s, and I remember just soaking in each and every page.  I think I highlighted practically the entire book!  There were so many aha and thought provoking moments, that I ended up keeping that book near my bedside so I could check back when I was struggling in some way.

A few others that come to mind are:

CONVERSATIONS WITH GOD (Especially Book II)

This is the sort of book you really need to take one chapter at a time, because it is a lot to absorb, but well worth the effort.

CREATIVE VISUALIZATION

I love this book because it really teaches you how to set your intention, focus on visualizing it actually happening, so you can manifest it into existence.  This book was out way before “The Secret” came into existence.

THE ALCHEMIST

I can’t say enough about this wonderful book.  Definitely life changing!

THE FOUR AGREEMENTS

This is one of those books you should definitely keep on your nightstand.  It is my “bible” for how to live my life.  If you apply these four principles, you will definitely lead a happier and more productive oneJ

THE MASTERY OF LOVE

By the same author of “The Four Agreements”, Ruiz, in my opinion, this is one of the best books written about love and relationships.  I wish I would have read it while I was having problems in some of mine, because it would have made me re-think some of my decisions.  Very simply written, but with so much wisdom.

A NEW EARTH

Ground breaking book!  Again one of those reads that you have to really take your time with to fully grasp the content.  Since reading it, I do believe that I am better in living in the present moment.

A SPIRITUAL LIBERATION

I got this book after my ex-boyfriend died.  It was the most difficult and challenging time in my life, and this book inspired me and gave me comfort.  Another book that I highlighted and ear marked almost every single page!

HEAVEN IS REAL

Along the same lines, when I lost both my parents, this book gave me so much solace that my loved one’s were in an amazing place surrounded by light and love.  Recently, I just saw the movie, which was beautifully done.  I highly recommend you read this if you lost someone close to you.  It will give you a completely different perspective.

THE FIVE THINGS WE CANNOT CHANGE..AND THE HAPPINESS WE FIND BY EMBRACING THEM

When I was struggling with some conflicts I was having with friends and family, a pastor at the Optimum Health Institute gave me this book.  I found it to be so profound and accurate.  It really helped me deal with the situations with more compassion and understanding.

THE BUDDHA IN YOUR MIRROR

This book offers practical guidelines to overcome difficulties in everyday life and to be helpful to others.

THE WAY OF THE PEACFUL WARRIOR

One of the very first books I ever read that truly made me think and reflect on my own life.  Loved it!

IF THE BUDDHA DATED

A fantastic book for dating and relationship advice.  Highly recommend it!

 

I have also found so many amazing DVD’s and CD’s that have been very helpful and given me the tools to work through problems and conflicts in my life.  They also teach you how to heal your own body and mind through positive thought and actions.

DR. ANDREW WEIL’S BREATHING – THE MASTERY KEY TO SELF HEALING

This CD has been invaluable to me.  Taking just 5-15 min. a day to do these 5 breathing exercises will not only calm your nervous system, but will help you to reduce stress/anxiety and prepare you for meditation.

LIFE VISIONING BY REVEREND BECKWITH

Life changing!  Especially the Life visioning practice he takes you through.

LIQUID BELLS SINGING BOWLS

I literally listen to this every single day.  The sound of the Tibetan bells is so calming.  I put it on, lay down and within moments I find myself snoring!!  Great when you need to nap, unwind or release stress.  Try listening to it before bedtime, and I promise you a great night’s sleep!

YOGA TUNE-UP THERAPY BALL PROGRAM BY JILL MILLER

This CD comes with massage balls and she walks you through self massage for your entire body.  I find it especially useful for my chronic neck, shoulder and back stiffness.  She is very thorough and makes it easy to follow.

STILLPOINT SELF HEALING TECHNIQUES

Another form of relaxation and meditation.  It comes with a rubber like cradle for your neck and then she walks you through several different meditative practices that help to release tension in the body.  Focusing on the Craniosacral System, the potential benefits include an increase in life force, energy and vitality; stimulation to the immune system, relief of headaches and morning sickness, as well as stress reduction.

GETTING INTO THE VORTEX GUIDED MEDITATIONS BY ESTHER AND JERRY HICKS

I love this CD and use it any time I feel the need to simply relax and attract positivity into my body and mind.

Just incorporate reading a few of these books and see what happens.  I find that reading something motivational, inspiring or thought provoking daily is fantastic positive fuel for the mind.  I also find that using some of these DVD’s and CD’s consistently are great tools to help you transform your body and your mind.  Isn’t time to get EMPOWERED??
